A vapor-phase process, involving the sublimation of an ice substrate/template and vapor deposition a maleimide-functionalized poly-p-xylylene, has been reported to synthesize advanced porous material, with readily clickable chemical interface properties, perform Michael-type addition maleimide functionality for conjugation thiol group. In contrast conventional poly-p-xylylenes on solid surface that forms thin film coatings, process herein additionally results in dynamic sublimating (template), rendering construction three-dimensional, porous, poly-p-xylylene. The seamlessly exploits refined polymerization from maleimide-substituted [2,2]paracyclophane ensures preservation transformation final poly-p-xylylene products. functionalization production were completed single step, thus avoiding complicated steps or post-functionalization procedures are commonly seen approaches produce functional materials.
